Planemaker Embraer unveiled the improved E-Jet fleet performance measures with upgrades to fuel burn and range, avionics and cabins to deliver more revenue to airline partners through sustainable and operational gains.
Embraer showcased the E195-E2, E190-E2 and E175 upgrades at the recent Farnborough International Airshow, which will be available to airline partners by 2026.
These include the new configuration option of an additional row of four seats on the narrow-body E195-E2 to accommodate a maximum of 146 passengers, generating up to USD$4.5 million (around AUD$6.8 million) in extra revenue per aircraft across 15 years.
E2 jet enhancements also include improved fuel burn and range with the E195-E2 up to 12.5 per cent more fuel efficient than competitor aircraft, and up 2.5 per cent on previous fuel economy, making it the most sustainable single-aisle aircraft on the market.
Taking off
A new, automatic E2 Enhanced Take Off System will also improve range and pilot payload from challenging airports, such as London City, Florence and Santos Dumont.
While automatic landings have been in place for several decades, this will be the first auto takeoff system for commercial passenger jets.
The E175 jets will also be upgraded with E2 features, such as next-gen digital weather and data avionics, satellite connectivity for the first time and larger overhead bins and mood lighting in cabins.
In Australia, more than 11 Embraer business jets and over 40 E-Jets are used across Virgin Australia, National Jet Express, Alliance Airlines, Airnorth (Darwin), Pionair and Cobham Aviation Services. Several Alliance E-Jets also operate on selected Qantas and QantasLink routes.
Embraer Commercial Aviation President & CEO Arjan Meijer said: “We aim to continually improve our aircraft and these upgrades – reducing fuel burn and emissions, increasing range, improving the passenger and cabin experience and adding new technology and connectivity – is great news both for our customers and their guests.”
“Embraer is committed to providing the safest, most efficient, most comfortable and most commercially savvy jets to our customers.”
