From March 2025, Melbourne will see increased Emirates capacity to Dubai and beyond as the airline upgrades to its retrofitted four-class Boeing 777-300ER.
Emirates has announced a third non-stop daily service between Dubai and Melbourne starting 30 March 2025. The service will offer enhanced connectivity and premium travel experiences, restoring EK’s pre-pandemic flight capacity.
The new service will be operated by Emirates’ retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, featuring its award-winning Premium Economy product and upgraded Business Class.
This new enhanced schedule provides connectivity via Dubai to 27 European cities, including popular destinations like London, Paris, and Frankfurt, with multiple daily flights available.
- Flight EK404 will depart Dubai at 21:15hrs, arriving in Melbourne at 17:40hrs the following day.
- Flight EK405 will return from Melbourne at 23:55hrs, arriving in Dubai at 07:00hrs.
This development, however, means Emirates will discontinue its Dubai-Melbourne via Singapore route on the same date (30 March 2025).
The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER features

- 8 First Class Suites with personalised service and ultimate privacy.
- 40 (Upgraded) Business Class seats, which convert into 78.6-inch flat beds. They include personal mini-bars, charging ports, and a 23-inch HD screen.
- 24 Premium Economy seats boast 6-way adjustable headrests, a 38-inch pitch, and cream leather finishes.
- 256 Economy Class seats, designed for comfort with advanced in-flight entertainment.
- Business Class and First Class passengers can also enjoy the legendary dedicated onboard bar for mid-flight refreshments.
Emirates restores Pre-Pandemic capacity and expands across Australia
With this addition, Emirates now offers 77 weekly services to five Australian cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
The reinstatement of a second Perth service from 1 December 2024 will boost capacity to 12,000 weekly seats and strengthen trade links along with the return of Adelaide services in October 2024.
It’s estimated that the 10-year codeshare partnership between Emirates and Qantas has seen 15 million passengers across 543,000 flights, with routes covering Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
