Emirates unveils exclusive line of upcycled aircraft material luggage

Emirates has announced the upcoming release of a line of upcycled accessories made from its aircraft interior, with all profits going to charity.

Emirates has announced the upcoming release of a line of upcycled accessories made from its aircraft interior, with all profits going to charity.

The launch of its capsule collection ‘Aircrafted by Emirates’ includes luggage, bags and accessories – all made from recycled aircraft materials – allowing the public to own a piece of aviation history.

The collection is crafted from materials repurposed from its A380 and 777 aircraft, as part of the airline’s US$ 2 billion retrofit program.

Emirates has invested in upgrading its cabins to enhance the experience of travellers and has undertaken the upcycling project as an extension of its commitment to sustainability.

“We are committed to constantly evolving our sustainability efforts, and looking at every aspect of our products and supply chain. We knew these materials could be given a second life because they are originally of very high quality,” said Ahmed Safa, Divisional Senior Vice President for Engineering at Emirates

“We challenged our team to be as creative and innovative as possible, and here we are, with our own accessories workshop in Emirates Engineering Centre. This initiative is a passion project for our team, and we are immensely proud of how it aligns with both our innovation and sustainability aims, and even better – that all proceeds will benefit worthy causes via the Emirates Airline Foundation.”

The limited-edition range uses materials from throughout the cabins including first-class. Aluminium headrests, lounge leather, seatbelts, and fur from the Captain’s seat have been repurposed for the luggage and bags.

The selection of bags, suitcases, and accessories are all designed and handmade by the airline’s tailors in a dedicated cabin workshop at Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai.

Emirates Official Stores will sell a range of bags and accessories in 2024, and all proceeds will go to children in need through the Emirates Airline Foundation.

The bags and accessories will be showcased at the airline’s stand during the Dubai Airshow at DWC from 13-17 November.
