Etihad retools Guest Loyalty program with new tier, custom benefits & better rewards

Etihad Airways’ Etihad Guest Loyalty (EYG) program will relaunch in June 2024 with a host of new features, including customisable benefits, easier upgrades and rewards and a new elite Diamond tier.

Etihad Airways’ Etihad Guest Loyalty (EYG) program will relaunch in June 2024 with a host of new features, including customisable benefits, easier upgrades and rewards and a new elite Diamond tier.

Etihad Airways will be the first Middle Eastern airline to offer custom benefits for its members, allowing them to choose rewards for their lifestyle and travelling preferences.

Along with the introduction of the Diamond tier, both Diamond and Platinum members can choose personalised membership numbers – another first for the airline.

In addition to Core Benefits, tiered members can select from a yet-to-be-revealed range of extra privileges: Silver members will get a choice of two Custom benefits, Gold will get four and Platinum five.

EYG will also introduce Beyond Benefits for Gold and Platinum members, such as Silver or Gold tier status, lounge passes and Bonus Miles, which can be gifted to family and friends.

Easier miles acquisition

The carrier has revised the pricing for GuestSeats and reduced the miles required for popular destinations in both Economy and Business classes.

This includes an almost 30 per cent reduction in GuestSeat pricing with Economy now starting at 5,000 EYG miles plus taxes and Business at 15,000 EYG miles and taxes.

Platinum Tier members will be able to access 100 per cent Bonus Etihad Guest Miles when flying with EY or more than 20 eligible airline partners.

All members will now also have the opportunity to use their miles to upgrade to The Residence suite.

Earning rewards

Etihad Guest Managing Director Mark Potter said the loyalty program enhancements mean a new era for EY’s frequent flyers.

“The more time they invest with us through flying and our lifestyle partners, the more rewarding and personalised their experiences become so guests can journey on their terms, not ours,” he said.

“To move to a higher tier and unlock more benefits, Etihad Guest members will still need to earn a set number of Tier Miles, some of which must now be earned from flying.

“We’ve simplified the way members reach their new tiers by removing Tier Segments, creating a simpler way for guests to track their progress to the next level.”

Etihad recently unveiled a new designer loungewear collection and amenity kits for its premium passengers.
