Victorians will have more ways to fly to Europe from March 2025 with Etihad Airways adding an extra weekly service from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi as well as updating its departure time from 27 October 2024 for better connections for onward journeys.

From 30 March 2025, Etihad Airways will up its Melbourne-Abu Dhabi flights to eight services per week, departing at 5am (EY463) and 5:05pm (EY461).

EY463 will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday while EY461 will depart Melbourne on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

In addition, from 27 October 2024 to 29 March 2025, EY will change its daily EY461 service to depart from Melbourne Airport at 6:15pm.

Etihad Australia General Manager Amer Khan said the schedule change will give passengers more frequency and connectivity, including popular destinations such as London, Paris and Rome, extensive European routes and the option of a free stopover in Abu Dhabi.

EY launched free Abu Dhabi stopovers of up to two days for its customers in May.

“We’re thrilled to announce an additional weekly flight for Melbourne travellers from next year – a decision driven by the increasing demand we’ve seen from Aussies eager to explore the world,” he said.

“This added frequency not only offers more convenient departure times but also enhances connectivity to key destinations offered on our global network.”
