Exclusive: Nearly 200 agents attend Qantas’ Best of North America Day

On the Fourth of July, Qantas added a little blue to its famous red and white, as it hosted some 180 travel advisors (and Karryon) from across Australia and New Zealand at its Sydney headquarters for the return of its Best of North America Day.

On the Fourth of July, Qantas added a little blue to its famous red and white, as it hosted some 180 travel advisors (and Karryon) from across Australia and New Zealand at its Sydney headquarters for the return of its Best of North America Day.

The first major travel agent event Qantas has hosted since 2019, the full day of activities included an inspection of the flying kangaroo’s A380 aircraft in one of the carrier’s hangars, a North American-inspired long lunch, Qantas product updates, a mini expo featuring the event’s sponsors, prizes and a Qantas Wine and networking event to round out the day.

Gold sponsors for the day were Brand USA, Destination Canada, and Destination British Columbia, while silver sponsors included Visit California, LA Tourism, Los Angeles Airport, Visit Anaheim, Travel Nevada, Travel Manitoba, VIA Rail, and the Banff, Calgary and Jasper regions of Canada, who all gave informative updates.

Fourth of July aside, Qantas has a lot to celebrate when it comes to North America.

The airline is operating its 787-9 Dreamliners on more North American routes than ever before, it has opened new routes including Melbourne to Dallas, and is operating year-round flights to Canada.

The airline also recently restarted its three-times weekly Sydney to New York flights, via Auckland, and will add capacity to the route from October 2023.

North American plans

There’s a lot more on the horizon for the airline as well…

The national carrier is exploring new routes between Australia and North America to further enhance the Qantas network.

Qantas is also expanding its portfolio of partner airlines to give customers access to hundreds of destinations across the continent.

In addition to this, nonstop Sydney-New York flights (‘Project Sunrise’), utilising the airline’s future A350 aircraft, are just a couple of years away.

Significantly, the carrier’s A380 Superjumbos will also remain a key part of the Qantas fleet to North America, ensuring capacity is available to customers.

And judging by the turn-out for today’s event, travel advisors and partners will remain a key part of its plans too.
