Brisbane Airport Christmas Lounge is decking the departures hall this festive season with a dedicated area within BNE Domestic and International Terminals stacked with free activities to kick-start the holly-jolly holidays for flying families and kids.

With Queensland school holidays now in effect, BNE forecasts three million people will pass through the airport this season, up from 1.2 million across the previous two Christmas holiday periods.

As Queensland’s largest airport, Brisbane Airport offers connections with 22 airlines to reunite friends and family this festive season.

The busiest day is predicted to be Friday 16 December when 53,000 passengers will pass through the domestic terminal.

Thursday 15 December and the period between Wednesday 21 December and 23 December are also peak passenger days at BNE.

“This is the first restriction-free Christmas in three years and we certainly want it to be memorable from the moment passengers reach the terminal,” BNE Head of Public Affairs Stephen Beckett said.

“When Brisbane Airport is busy, Queensland is busy, so this is great news for the Sunshine State’s tourism economy,” Mr Beckett said.

Domestic passengers can watch Christmas flicks until 23 December plus hands-on fun such as biscuit decorating and a holiday photobooth. There will also be roving entertainers and Christmas carollers on set days.

At the International Terminal, travellers can spin and win vouchers for BNE retailers, stretch with Queensland Ballet and be entertained by the likes of Santa and his elves.
