Qantas’ first-ever direct Australia-France flight fittingly took off from Perth for Paris on Bastille Day – 14 July 2024. Carrying 236 passengers, the new route will add 75,000 extra seats between Australia and Europe annually.
The new QF33 direct flights between Perth and Paris mark the return of Qantas-operated services to the French capital for the first time in 20 years.
Operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner long-haul aircraft, the route will cut around three hours off the current fastest travel time between the two cities, clocking in at around 17 hours and 20 minutes.
It will also be the longest nonstop flight to France from anywhere in the world.
Flights will initially operate four times per week over the European summer, starting just in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games, before moving to three services per week from mid-August.
Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said the national carrier’s return to Paris follows demand of its other nonstop services to Europe.
“In recent years we have seen a significant increase in customers wanting to fly direct on long-haul routes and avoiding stopovers wherever possible,” she said.
“Our direct flights from Perth to London and Rome have some of the highest customer satisfaction on our international network.
“With these new flights, our customers can depart Perth in the evening and arrive in Paris in time to enjoy brunch overlooking the Eiffel Tower.”
To mark the start of the direct Paris flights, Qantas launched limited-edition Martin Grant-designed pyjamas and matching amenity kits plus Neil Perry Business Class menus, featuring classic French dishes, such as bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns and a French 75 cocktail.
A special selection of French movies set in Paris, such as Amélie and Midnight in Paris, will also screen across the QF international inflight system throughout July.
