Flying is not the most environmentally friendly mode of transport so it’s great to see airlines that give careful consideration to curbing their environmental footprint.
One such airline is the Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) which has just been named as the 2018 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index Airline Industry Leader for the second year running.
This means ANA snagged the highest sustainability index score among all airlines worldwide. TOP JOB.
The airline was praised for its environmental practices, excellent customer care, continued pursuit of safety and quality during flights and risk management practices.
It was also commended for its recruitment process and employee retention rates.
Executive Vice President of ANA Naoto Takad said they were so are proud to be named the Airline Industry Leader for a second consecutive year.
“ANA is honored to join this list of the world’s leading companies and reinforces our goal of being a truly global, socially responsible corporate citizen. ANA HD is committed to creating a wonderful experience for our passengers and employees.”

This year ANA is continuing the introduction of fuel-efficient aircraft into their network with the target to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% (from FY2005 to FY2020).
As part of “ANA Fly Eco 2020” ANA supports Eugelena, a bio jet-fuel maker which aims to commercialise jet fuel made from green algae output in 2020’s.
The initiative will involve the introduction of biofuels to ANA flights as well as help develop refueling operation systems at the airports.
