While you may not have clients who choose an airline based on its cabin crew, a carrier’s crew plays a vital role in shaping a company’s reputation and standing. Their hard work, efficiency, and dedication to providing excellent service contribute significantly to passengers’ overall experience. Recognising this, the World Airline Awards recently announced the winners of the World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew for 2023.
The Best Airline Cabin Crew Awards, organised by Skytrax, acknowledge the exceptional all-around performance of cabin staff. This encompasses hard service (techniques, efficiency, attention, etc.) and soft service characteristics (staff enthusiasm, attitude, friendliness, and hospitality).
Topping the list is Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia. This is the sixth time Garuda Indonesia has received this honour. Singapore Airlines secured the second spot, followed closely by All Nippon Airways (ANA) in third place.
Irfan Setiaputra, the President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“This global recognition reflects on how Garuda Indonesia, as national flag carrier, manages its services thoroughly, including assuring the hospitality of Indonesia and sincerity well delivered from our cabin crew to the passengers.”
He further expressed hope that the award would have the flow-on effect of benefiting the country’s tourism industry.
While Garuda Indonesia’s achievement rightfully takes the spotlight, it’s important to acknowledge other notable winners as well.
Fiji Airways, in particular, stood out as the Best Airline Staff in Australia/Pacific for 2023.
André Viljoen, the CEO of Fiji Airways, highlighted the airline’s commitment to quality service delivery and its embodiment of the Fijian spirit of hospitality and care.
Despite having fewer resources compared to larger airlines, Fiji Airways sets itself apart by embracing and championing these values. Fiji Airways also took out the award for best airline in Australia and the Pacific.
The World Airline Awards serve as a testament to the dedication and hard work of cabin crew members worldwide at what has been, let’s face it, some pretty difficult times.
