Travellers will soon be able to book Garuda Indonesia services from Thailand and Singapore to Myanmar through a new codeshare agreement with Myanmar Airways International.
Under the new agreement signed today, Garuda will place its GA marketing code on Myanmar Airways’ flights between Bangkok and Yangon; and Singapore to Yangon.
In turn, Myanmar Airways will place its 8M marketing code on Garuda Indonesia’s services between Jakarta and Bangkok; and Jakarta and Singapore.
Garuda Indonesia said the agreement would offer convenient connections between Myanmar and Indonesia via Thailand and Singapore.

Myanmar is currently one of the world’s fastest growing tourism destinations, receiving 2.05 million visitors in 2013 – an increase from 1.05 million the prior year.
Currently, Indonesia is not one of Myanmar’s top ten arrivals list, however, Mr Meijer expects the new agreement to play a role in boosting trade and tourism between the two destinations.

Meanwhile, Indonesia welcomed 8.8 million travellers last year. Only 65,357 came from Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos.
