Travellers heading to Hong Kong will have more options, as Hong Kong Airlines prepares to launch its first three-times weekly services to Australia next year.
The airline will launch a new triangular service starting from Hong Kong to the Gold and continuing to Cairns on 8 January 2016.
Utilising its A330 aircraft, the service will introduce 292 seats on the route including 32 business class seats.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to meet growing demand for travel between Queensland and Hong Kong, airline Commercial Director said.
“Leveraging our connectivity in Asia via the international hub Hong Kong, we believe the new service will be well received by the passengers especially those from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Okinawa, Bangkok and Taipei, bringing them more travel options.”
Mr. Li Dianchun, Hong Kong Airlines Commercial Director
Gold Coast Airport’s Chief Operating Officer, David Collins, welcomed the new services, saying it’s a positive step towards ‘strengthening the Gold Coast’s partnership with the airline’.
Statistics from Tourism and Events Queensland said visitation from Hong Kong has increased steadily over the past six years.
Holiday makers contribute to 72.5 percent of Hong Kong visitors to Queensland in 2014. Total visitor count from Hong Kong to Queensland also rose notably by 15 percent year-on-year in the same period.
