International great Rory McIlroy and Australian champion Adam Scott have joined with former cricketer Brian Lara, Emirates and travel trade for the Emirates Australian Open Pro-Am competition.
The Pro-Am, allowing amateur golfers to play with the professionals, saw a few familiar faces including Nick O’Hern, Geoff Ogilvy, Greg Chalmers, Craig Parry, Boo Weekly and Stuart Appleby play against the likes of Deborah Hutton and Fox Sports commentator, Greg Clark. Cricketing legend Brian Lara traded in his cricket bat for a golf club for a round on the green as well.
Barry Brown, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Commercial Operations East played alongside Rory McIlory and Adam Scott while Tim Shepherd, Emirates National Account Manager played alongside Jordan Spieth.
Held from 27 November until 30 November 2014, the Emirates Australian Open will host an impressive field of play once again at this year’s venue The Australian Golf Course. The Emirates Marquee will provide guests with a stellar view of the 18th hole and will be German-themed, inspired by Emirates’ four German destinations; Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Munich.
Emirates’ other Australian golf sponsorships include the PGA Championship and Perth International, complimenting a national portfolio of arts and sporting properties that includes the Sydney and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, Adelaide Festival, Collingwood Football Club and Emirates Melbourne Cup.
