Malaysian airline, Malindo Air, is feeding into Australia’s borderline unhealthy Indonesia addiction with new direct services from Melbourne to Bali.
The carrier, which made headlines last year for its controversial staff ‘grooming checks’, became the third airline to service the Melbourne-Bali route this morning.
Flights between the two cities are scheduled to run daily on the carrier’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft capable of carrying some 180 passengers in Economy Class.
Melbourne Airport’s Chief of Aviation, Simon Gandy, welcomed the new service, saying Australians now have another 118,260 seats to book to and from Bali every year.
“[This] creates more choice and frequency for travellers flying to and from Indonesia and beyond.”

According to Gandy, passenger traffic between Victoria and Indonesia grows every year, and in half a decade has experienced an 8.6 percent rise.
“This highlights we are rapidly filling current capacity, the strong travel demand in the route and reinforces Victoria’s fascination with the leisure hotspot,” he said.
