Jetstar announces deal that sends bargain hunters by the dozen to their site. Unfortunately, it also resulted in a frazzled booking system.
In response to AirAsia’s $99 introductory deal for flights from Melbourne to Bali, budget airline Jetstar decided to offer a 48-hour special for flights to Bali.
The $(AUD)88 price tag sent a flurry of bargain hunters to their site to cash-in on the super deal.
Nonetheless, while the bargain attracted many a would-be traveller, the flood of interest was too much for the airline to bear, and booking systems seized up.
Those patient attempted to make a booking for as long as six-hours before conceding defeat.
A spokesman from the airline told news.com that the system had been placed “under stress” by the fare offer but was unable to provide further details of the crash.
The system freeze prompted angry would-be travellers to take to social media to vent their frustration.

The crash came in wake of Jetstar announcing yesterday that it would reduce its baggage allowance weight for carry on, from 10kg to 7kg as of November 25.
Economy class passengers can still carry two pieces of luggage but their combined weight must be 7kg or less.
