Jetstar has introduced Points Plus Pay for business class upgrade bids, giving eligible Qantas Frequent Flyer members a new way to use their points on international flights.
The new option allows customers to combine Qantas Points and cash when bidding for a business class seat on Jetstar-operated B787 services, adding more flexibility to the airline’s existing upgrade program.
The launch follows the introduction of Jetstar’s cash-upgrade bidding platform and comes as the carrier continues to roll out its refreshed 787 fleet. The upgraded Dreamliners feature redesigned business class cabins with additional seating, upgraded interiors and, for the first time on Jetstar, in-flight wi-fi.

Under the program, eligible customers can receive an invitation to bid via email or access the upgrade platform through Jetstar’s website. Travellers can then choose how to split their bid between cash and points, with up to 80 per cent of the total offer payable using Qantas Points.
Jetstar said that at launch, customers travelling on the Melbourne-Ho Chi Minh City route could bid for a Business Class upgrade for $180 per person.
Successful bidders are notified before departure and issued a new itinerary confirming the upgrade.

Meanwhile, Jetstar has also flagged plans to introduce a Classic Upgrade Reward-style product in the future, providing Qantas Frequent Flyer members with another pathway into the carrier’s premium cabin.
“Points Plus Pay with Jetstar gives customers another simple way to use the rewards they’ve earned to upgrade to Business and take off more,” Executive Manager, Customer and Digital Prue McKenzie said.
“The ability to combine Qantas Points and cash gives customers more options, offers great value and makes premium travel more accessible, while an upcoming Classic Upgrade Rewards-style product will provide even more choice for Frequent Flyers.”
The first Jetstar Dreamliner refit took off from Melbourne to Phuket on 7 April 2026, showcasing the new-look cabins and inflight wi-fi that will be progressively rolled out across all 11 of the low-cost carrier’s international B787 fleet. Read about that here.
KARRYON UNPACKS: As travellers become more selective about how they use loyalty points, flexible options like Points Plus Pay could make premium travel more accessible without requiring a large points balance.
