Got clients connecting between SkyTeam member airlines? A new tool could help take the guesswork out of hand baggage allowance.
In an ideal world, baggage allowance would be a universal measure. But seeing as how we were promised flying cars by now and still have to drive on roads, I’m not holding my breath for airlines to reach a unanimous decision on baggage allowance.
So SkyTeam’s newly launched Carry-on Calculator could be the answer.
For your clients flying multiple SkyTeam carriers on one itinerary, it’s pretty straightforward to use. Your clients need simply input their class of travel and the airlines with which they are flying and voila! The Carry-on Calculator does the rest.

The calculator will provide your clients with a recommended allowance that takes into account all flights’ restrictions. It bases its answer on the most restrictive carry-on and personal item allowance for every flight, including bag dimensions and maximum weight.
This could be particularly helpful if clients are in different classes of travel on different legs.
“Not having the correct hand baggage can mean customers encounter the unexpected stress of having to check-in items at the gate, particularly during the peak travel season,” said Patrick Roux, SkyTeam CEO.
“Thanks to SkyTeam’s new Carry-on Calculator tool, customers can quickly find out how much they can bring on board and enjoy their journey, knowing their travel essentials will be within limits and within reach on the aircraft.”
The app is available on SkyTeam.com.
SkyTeam recently appointed Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico, as the new chair of its alliance board. Conesa will collaborate with Roux to shape strategic priorities with a focus on technology and sustainability for improved customer experiences. He takes over from Walter Cho, CEO and Chairman of Korean Air, who served as chairman since 2019.
