MAKING MOVES: Qantas finds an online solution to increase bookings from China

Everyone wants a piece of the ever-growing Chinese market, including Australia’s very own Qantas, which is why the airline has launched its first online flagship store in China.

Ensuring its flights are easily accessible to Chinese travellers, Qantas opened its online store on China’s largest online travel portal, Qunar.com.

Through the website and its app, customers can book flights to Australia and New Zealand directly with the Flying Kangaroo. Eventually, they’ll also be able to purchase excess baggage, extra legroom seats and other additional products.

Qantas’ Senior Vice President of Asia, Benjamin Tan, described the launch of the online store as “good news” for flyers in China because it will make booking travel “seamless and convenient”.

Qunar’s Chief Executive, Liu Lianchun, agreed to say that customers would also benefit from a more “customisable booking experience”.

As part of the flagship store opening, Qunar became the first trade partner in China to facilitate customer bookings using the airline’s Distribution Platform (QDP). The QDP was launched in May this year to enhance the airline retailing, booking and servicing capabilities for Qantas’ trade partners and deliver a more personalised experience for customers.
