Malaysia's PM has hope MH370 will be found

Malaysia's Prime Minister is still holding out hope that the missing MH370 and its 239 passengers will be found before the approaching deadline to cease searching.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister is still holding out hope that the missing MH370 and its 239 passengers will be found before the approaching deadline to cease searching.

Najib Razak’s statement comes two years or 730 days after the Boeing lost contact with ground control, taking with its hundreds of guests from Malaysia, China and Australia.

Since its disappearance, only one piece of the aircraft has been located off the coast of Reunion Island and one other object is currently being examined for any connection to the missing plane.

Despite the lack of evidence of its whereabouts and the failed search attempts, Razak said he “remains hopeful” the aircraft will be found by mid-2016.

He explained that teams from Malaysia, Australia and China will hold a meeting to determine the next step in searching for the plane and expects it will be located within the 120,000 square kilometre area under investigation.

“If it is not, then Malaysia, Australia and China will hold a tripartite meeting to determine the way forward.”

Qatar Airways’ CEO says the aviation can not allow a plane to disappear in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, speaking at the launch of Qatar Airways’ Sydney flights last week, CEO Akbar Al Baker said the aircraft needs to be found because the aviation industry can not “allow planes to just disappear in the 21st century”.

He continued, saying that it’s important to know what happened to the aircraft after it fell off the radar.

A second report on the missing aircraft is expected to be released today. Last year, Malaysia Airlines formally declared MH370 as an accident and all those onboard presumed dead.
