MAMMA MIA! Qatar Airways cooks up more Greek food with George Calombaris

Perhaps it's the recent release of the Mamma Mia sequel that has Qatar Airways feeling a little Greek or maybe it's the popularity of its non-stop service to Mykonos.

Perhaps it’s the recent release of the Mamma Mia sequel that has Qatar Airways feeling a little Greek or maybe it’s the popularity of its non-stop service to Mykonos.

Either way, the carrier is giving travellers some major food cravings with its expanded onboard menu cooked up alongside Aussie Chef (with Greek heritage) George Calombaris.

The airline and restauranteur teamed up back in June 2017 to deliver a seasonal Greek menu for Aussies flying in First and Business Class between Melbourne and Doha.

Now, the two are extended their Greek-inspired dining options from 1 September 2018 to all First and Business Class passengers travelling on Qatar Airways’ services from Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to Qatar’s capital.

Calombaris will change the menu every quarter, but to kick things off, he’ll include Avgolemono (a classic Greek egg and lemon soup), Bastourma Beef short rib with onions and Potato a la greque, Fraser Island Crab with lemon marmalade and tabbouleh, and the classic Greek moussaka.

Don’t worry Economy passengers; you’re not being left out of the pot. The airline is also working with Chef Calombaris to feature his signature touch in the Economy Class menu, due to debut in the first quarter of 2019.

Getting all flyers to the Greek!

Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive, Mr Akbar Al Baker, is excited to bring Calombaris’ signature dishes back on board, especially after seeing how well Aussies responded during the seasonal trial last year.
