In news that sounds completely false but could be stupid enough to be true: Aussies are so obsessed with the ‘reality series’ Married At First Sight that they’d rather risk their jobs than miss an episode.
Ridiculous right?
But then again, to some it’s kind of ridiculous that some 1.5 million people are tuning in to watch a show based around the outdated concept of arranged marriages (a practice that’s joked about in first nations, but is sadly enforced in poorer parts of the world – food for thought during your next viewing).
According to a Sydney Airport employee who rang into the 2DayFMBreakfast Show this morning, the staff at the gateway are addicted to the series, so-much-so that it’s causing flight delays.
This story sounds about as real as the introduction of a travel industry-related series called ‘Clients At First Sight‘.
The caller named Zoe said employees at the airport will delay services by up to half-an-hour just so they can stay up to date with the series.
“Big, burly blokes that work with me sit in the meal room and will delay planes for anywhere up to half an hour because they cannot get their eyes off that TV screen.”
Zoe, (Alleged) Sydney Airport employee
She continued, saying these men aren’t loading luggage aircraft on time just they can watch “this silly show”.

Obviously, an unverified caller isn’t exactly the most reliable source, so we’ll let you decide if it’s true when season six airs.
