NEW DESTINATIONS: American Airlines is expanding its European footprint

American Airlines has just revealed that it will be expanding its European network with NINE new routes including new services to Germany, Italy, and Croatia.

New flights will be introduced between Philadelphia International Airport in North American and Berlin-Tegel Airport in Germany, Guglielmo Marconi Bologna International Airport in Italy and Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia.

These seasonal flights will be operated from June through September on Boeing 767s.

American Airlines Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning Vasu Raja said the nonstop services would make it easier to see the world.

“Through our Atlantic Joint Business, we have seen increased interest to these markets from the US and adjusting our network to introduce these destinations will provide more choices for customers on both sides of the Atlantic.”

American has also launched a new seasonal service from Philadelphia International Airport to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Hungary and Vaclav Havel Airport Prague in the Czech Republic.

Also new for the carrier are routes from O’Hare International Airport in North America to Venice Marco Polo Airport in Italy and from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Keflavik International Airport in Iceland.

These flights will operate through the end of October and return in 2019.

American will also add a new nonstop flight from Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix to London Heathrow Airport, complementing existing service from Phoenix Airport provided by Atlantic Joint Business partner British Airways.

American’s new flights will be available for sale from the end of this week.

Meanwhile, the carrier is removing its “unprofitable” Chicago to Shanghai service from its schedule in October and will seek a dormancy waiver from the DOT to permit a return to the market once conditions improve.
