The large and growing Samoan population in Brisbane will have an easier time travelling to and from their native land with Samoa Airways' new non-stop service to the city.

The large and growing Samoan population in Brisbane will have an easier time travelling to and from their native land with Samoa Airways’ new non-stop service to the city.

Less than a year after launching, Samoa’s national carrier has announced plans to expand its network on the Apia-Brisbane route.

Commencing 13 November 2018, the twice-weekly service will operate on Tuesday and Saturday using the airline’s B737-800 aircraft.

Samoa Airways’ Chief Executive, Tupuivao Seiluli Alvin Tuala, said the new service responds to calls for improved air access from the Samoan community “who frequently travel between Samoa, America Samoa and Brisbane”.

“The Brisbane area is home to a large Samoan population and I am particularly pleased that the national carrier, with the support of Brisbane Airport, is able to respond to calls by our community.”

The new Apia-Brisbane route brings the carrier’s scheduled international network up to three with existing flights between Apia and Auckland, as well as Apia and Sydney.

Samoa Airways said bookings for flights to and from Queensland’s capital would be on sale soon.
