One of the world’s longest flights returns down under

Once the longest flight in the world, Qatar Airways has announced the reinstatement of its non-stop Doha-Auckland service.

Once the longest flight in the world, Qatar Airways has announced the reinstatement of its non-stop Doha-Auckland service.

Relaunching on 1 September 2023, the Qatar Airways service will run daily departing Auckland at 3pm (local time).

Qatar Airways will utilise its A350-1000 aircraft on the route, fitted out with 46 Business Class QSuites and 281 Economy Class seats.

Qatar last flew the route in 2019.

Sales for the service are open now. QR will also rebook those already confirmed on indirect flights (via Adelaide) after 1 September onto the new non-stop service.

The airline says the reinstated flights will boost customer choice and save passengers time.

“The direct Doha to Auckland service augments a number of new routes announced in recent weeks and enables passengers in key European markets including the UK and Ireland to save time with this direct connection,” Qatar Airways Group CEO, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker said.

“Business Class passengers on board our Auckland flights can also enjoy the enhanced privacy of Qsuite, which has been awarded the Best Business Class Seat in the World.”

Flight QR921 will depart Auckland at 1500 and arrive in Doha at 2315, while QR920 will depart Qatar at 0150 and touch down in New Zealand at 0245 (+1).

During daylight savings in New Zealand (from 24 September), QR920 and QR921 will arrive and depart one hour later respectively.

Qatar Airways continues to rebuild its network, with the carrier now flying to more than 160 destinations.

Last month, Qatar Airways opened the doors to its new Al Mourjan Business Lounge at Hamad International Airport.
