In a major coup for Solomon Airlines, the carrier has entered a new codeshare agreement with Qantas on flights between Australia and the Solomon Islands’ capital, Honiara.
Commencing 15 November, Qantas will place its code on Solomon Airlines’ services from Brisbane and Sydney to Honiara.
In return, Solomon Airlines will give eligible Qantas customers lounge access in Honiara.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to boost tourism between the Solomon Islands and Australia, and we’re looking forward to seeing Honiara promoted to more Australians than ever before.”
Captain Ron Sumsum, Solomon Airlines
As well as meeting current demand for travel to the up and coming South Pacific destination, the agreement will help Qantas increase its presence in the destination.
The service from Brisbane to Honiara (QF379/380) operates four times weekly, while the Sydney return service operates once a week.
Both flights are operated by Solomon Airlines’ A320 aircraft.
Qantas Executive Manager International Sales, Stephen Thompson, said as well as offering clients more destinations, the agreement will also build on the airline’s current broaden partnership strategy.
