Victorians, get ready for more flights to the Hawaiian Islands. Qantas has announced that it will commence a new non-stop service between Melbourne and Honolulu from early May 2025.
On sale today, the new flights will operate three times per week, using Qantas’ A330 aircraft.
Adding over 40,000 seats per year to the Aloha State capital, the future flying kangaroo service adds to Qantas’ Sydney-Honolulu flights and Jetstar’s Melbourne-Honolulu and Sydney-Honolulu services, which currently operate eight times per week.
“We are thrilled to continue to enhance our network in America with the launch of a new route from Melbourne to Honolulu, bringing a new, tropical destination to our Melbourne customers,” Qantas CEO International Cam Wallace said.
To mark the new flights, the Aussie carrier is offering discounted fares to North and South America on more than 50,000 seats.
The new Red Tail Sale runs for seven days, with economy sale fares starting from $1,049 return – for Melbourne to Honolulu.
With more than 30 routes on sale, other discounted economy fares include Sydney and Brisbane to Los Angeles ($1,199), Sydney to Vancouver ($1,599) and Melbourne to Dallas ($1,699).
Fares are for travel between October 2024 and June 2025 and include checked baggage, free food and beverages, and seat selection.
Qantas Frequent Flyers will also earn Qantas Points and Status Credits on eligible flights.
In August, the flying kangaroo announced it would increase its Sydney-Auckland-New York flights by 50 per cent as demand booms.
Last week, the Qantas Group announced its results for FY24, reporting an Underlying Profit Before Tax of $2.08 billion and a Statutory Profit After Tax of $1.25 billion.
