Qantas is set to enhance the travel experience for regional flyers, announcing upgrades to seven airport lounges across Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.

The airline’s investment comes as it opens a new and expanded Broome Airport lounge, which now offers double the capacity, north-facing tarmac views and a design inspired by the Dampier Peninsula’s colours.

The refresh will include upgraded seating, modern furnishings, enhanced technology and a focus on sustainability, including reducing single-use plastics. The improved lounges will also showcase Aussie artists with new artwork.

The lounges set for upgrades are Karratha, Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, Mackay, Emerald, Gladstone and Rockhampton, with work scheduled to begin in the coming months.

“We’ve been part of regional Australia for more than 100 years, and we want to make sure that we’re continuing to invest and deepen how we serve communities across the country for decades to come,” QantasLink CEO Rachel Yangoyan said.

“Delivering a great experience across the whole travel journey is important which is why we’re upgrading and refreshing seven of our regional lounges over the next 12 months with a multimillion-dollar investment.

“We are investing for the long-term future of regional flying in this country with more than 40 newer aircraft joining the QantasLink fleet over the next few years.

“These new aircraft offer a better customer experience and allow us to maximise regional connectivity, while improving in-flight service.”

The flying kangaroo recently revealed its refreshed First and Business Lounge menu with seasonal offerings, including a new autumnal cocktail – The Continental, created with Croissant Gin by Lune and Four Pillars (First Lounges only), plus Rhubarb Spritz and Plum On Sour cocktails.
