Qantas has won the ‘Passenger Comfort’ category at the Crystal Cabin Awards – the most prestigious airline awards for cabin technology and passenger experience.
The award recognises its world-first ‘Wellbeing Zone’ on the specially designed Qantas A350 that will directly connect Sydney to London and New York for the first time.
The ‘zone’ was purpose-built for the A350 as part of an initiative called ‘Project Sunrise’.
Taking off in 2026, Project Sunrise will cut point-to-point travel time by more than three hours compared to routes with one stop.
Located between the premium economy and economy cabins, the zone has integrated stretch handles, a digital guided exercise program, a hydration station and a self-service bar of ‘nutritious refreshments’.
The awards noted that “the innovative Wellbeing Zone offers science-based wellness products, biorhythm-optimised lighting and real glass doors. This area is accessible to all passengers, supports healthy eating and offers space for physical activity.”
“The jury praised the Wellbeing Zone in its refreshing approach to ultra-long-haul comfort.”
Qantas Executive Manager Product & Service Phil Capps said: “Every element of our A350 cabin has been designed to maximise customer comfort, health and wellbeing.”
“The distance between Australia and the rest of the world has given us the opportunity to think differently about our cabins and create spaces such as the Wellbeing Zone.
“State of mind and physical wellbeing are equally important for ultra-long-haul flying. By creating a separate zone for movement and socialisation in our A350 cabin, we can help customers to feel their best when they arrive at their destination.”
