Seoul search complete: Korean Air back to BNE

Korean Air (KAL) has announced its permanent return to Brisbane Airport with the resumption of direct flights between Seoul-Incheon Airport and BNE today, touching down at 6:50am.

Korean Air (KAL) has announced its permanent return to Brisbane Airport with the resumption of direct flights between Seoul-Incheon Airport and BNE today, touching down at 6:50am.

From 24 April 2023, Korean Air will provide five weekly direct flights between Seoul and Brisbane (BNE), adding an extra 89,000 inbound seats each year.

The return of KAL is set to inject more than $120 million into the Queensland economy annually and support more than 1,000 jobs.

Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff welcomed the move, saying South Korea is an economic powerhouse and the state’s third-largest trading market.

“The return of permanent flights turns the tap back on for largescale South Korean tourism to Queensland,” he said.

The returning flight is part of Queensland’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, a joint venture between Brisbane Airport Corporation and the Queensland Government.

Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe welcomed Korean Air’s return to Queensland skies.

“Korean Air’s direct flights to Brisbane from Seoul-Incheon Airport are important to Queensland’s post-pandemic international visitor recovery,” Mr Hinchliffe said.

“The return of convenient, direct services from Seoul is good news for leisure visitors, working holidaymakers and the growing cohort of Korean students choosing Queensland as their preferred study destination.”

Korean Air’s Regional Manager for Australia Mr Jason Jeong also welcomed the resumption ahead of the airline’s 30th anniversary of services to Brisbane.

“Queenslanders will now be able to enjoy Korean Air’s 5 weekly services to Seoul and beyond to many exciting destinations once again.”
