Sydneysiders have tried and tested the spacious seating, wider screens and extra recline, and now Singapore Airlines says it’s ready to send its new Premium Economy product to another Australian city.
Commencing 24 June this year, Singapore Airlines’ Premium Economy will make its debut in Victoria’s capital, Melbourne, when the A380 returns for the peak holiday period.
The announcement comes four months after the airline launched the product and less than two months after sending the class to Sydney.
The A380 will fly three times weekly to Melbourne until 3 September. SQ217 will depart Singapore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10.45am to arrive in Brisbane and 8.10pm. Flight SQ218 will then return, leaving Melbourne at 12.05am and arriving in Singapore at 6.00am.
Singapore Airlines’ Premium Economy seats have a width range between 18.5 inches-19.5 inches and offers a recline of eight inches.
There’s a 13.3-inch full HD monitor, the largest in its class and also three inches larger than what’s on offer in economy.
Passengers in Premium Economy have access to Singapore Airlines’ ‘Book the Cook’ service – a wide array of dishes that will replace the main course from the inflight menu and can be pre-ordered through the airline’s reservations office or via its website. Meals include a Lime Sauce Pan Fried Fish Pasta, Butter Chicken and Jalfrezi Vegetables, a Roasted Chicken Thigh in Creamy Mushroom Sauce and more.
Singapore Airlines’ Regional Vice President for South West Pacific, Tiow Kor Tan, said sending Premium Class to Melbourne would not only benefit locals but also help meet growing for extra comforts and services.
