Singapore Airlines announces extra flight to Brisbane

The love affair between Singapore Airlines and Bris-vegas is getting intense, with the airline announcing a fourth flight service to the Queensland capital.

The love affair between Singapore Airlines and Bris-vegas is getting intense, with the airline announcing a fourth flight service to the Queensland capital.

The extra service will commence in late May and will increase the seat capacity to the city by some 15 percent. It will operate three times a week and will be serviced by two A330-300 aircraft.

According to Mr. Tiow Kor Tan of Singapore Airlines, the addition of a fourth flight is in response to the strength of the Brisbane market over the last 12 months. Previously, an extra service was only called upon during the peak season, but strong demand has forced the airline to respond with a permanent new flight option.

Singapore Airlines will also be upgrading their SilverKris Lounge at Brisbane airport in time for the commencement of the new service.

The additional flight reflects Singapore Airlines’ committment to the Queensland market, which was one of the top performing markets in the last year.

“The decision to install a scheduled fourth flight is a reflection of our commitment to Queensland and will ensure we are providing more options for our passengers.”

Mr. Tiow Kor Tan, Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Singapore Airlines

The addition of the fourth flight into Brisbane is the second increase in capacity for the South West Pacific region in as many weeks after it was announced last week that Melbourne will welcome back the A380 for three months during the June – September peak.

Singapore Airlines may also be expanding its operations to Canberra.
