Sleeping pods have finally touched down in Australia as Perth’s international gateway becomes the first country-wide to trial the pre-flight sleep pods in one of its terminals.
Perth Airport teamed up with GoSleep to bring the uber comfy, uber private and uber amazing initiative Down Under last week to its T1 precinct.
Currently on a trial basis, the sleeping pods are specially designed sleek chairs, similar to that found in Business Class. They have USB and GPO plugs for laptops and phones as well as hand luggage storage space and moveable breathing shade that shields users from the craziness of the terminal.
They’re ideal for passengers wanting to catch a few z’s either before their flight or between connecting flights, according to Perth Airport’s Chief Executive Kevin Brown, who believes they’ll provide flyers with more choice for relaxation and comfort.
“It’s part of our commitment to deliver an efficient and modern airport that provides the level of service and facilities that Western Australia deserves.”
Kevin Brow, Perth Airport Chief Executive

Travellers can rent the sleeping pods online or in person for $12 an hour or take advantage of special rates for longer stays. Pillows and blankets will be available with pod stays.
