Solomon Airlines to temporarily suspend services from Sydney

Solomon Airlines will temporarily suspend its Sydney-Honiara services next month as the carrier's A320 aircraft undergoes maintenance in Singapore.

Solomon Airlines will temporarily suspend its Sydney-Honiara services next month as the carrier’s A320 aircraft undergoes maintenance in Singapore.

Flights will be paused on the route from 22 February – 25 April 2016.

During the two-month period, travellers already booked to fly Sydney-Honiara will be rerouted to fly to Brisbane and onward to Honiara. Solomon Airlines said it will lease out Qantas’ Boeing 737-800 aircraft to continue operating its four direct services from the city.

To cater to extra passengers from Sydney, Solomon will operate a same day return service between Brisbane and Honiara on Mondays and additional direct services ex-Brisbane to Honiara will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays as per normal scheduling.

Direct services ex-Honiara to Brisbane will operate every Thursday, Friday and Sunday as per normal scheduling.

The carrier’s General Manager of Operations and Commercial, Gus Kraus, apologised for the inconvenience to passengers and thanked Qantas for stepping in and assisting.

“All passengers holding confirmed tickets will re-routed ex-Sydney to Brisbane to connect with either the airline’s Monday or Wednesday services.”
