In a boost to travel to Africa, South African Airways (SAA) has announced it will increase its non-stop flights between Perth and Johannesburg.
Currently operating three flights per week, SAA will increase the service to four times per week from 8 December 2024 to 6 January 2025 before upping it to five-times-weekly from the week commencing 7 January 2025.
SAA says the move is in response to increasing demand for travel between the two countries.

From the week starting 7 December, flight SA0281 will depart Perth (PER) at 11.55pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and arrive in Johannesburg (JNB) at 5.10am the next day.
Eastbound flights, SA0280, will leave JNB at 8.35pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, landing in PER at 12.10pm the following day.
From 7 January, an extra flight will depart PER on Tuesday.
SAA recommenced its direct Australian service in April – just the second international route the carrier resumed after the pandemic.

In an interview with Karryon in May, SAA Australia Country Manager Michael Hall said the goal of the airline is “to go daily again”.
Hall added that the carrier would continue utilising its A340-300 aircraft on the route, but would aim to bring newer planes to Australia.
