Thai Airways brings the 'Dream' to Brisbane

Flights between Brisbane and Thailand are about to get a dream-y upgrade, as Thai Airways sends its Boeing 787 to the city.

 

Commencing 25 October this year, the airline will replace the Boeing 777 on the route with the 787-8 Dreamliner, Australian Business Traveller reported.

The upgrade to the Dreamliner means Royal Silk Class passengers aka business will have access to Thai’s 24 full-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration – an upgrade from the angled-flat beds in the 777.

The class also features electrochromism window shades to block out light and six fewer seats than the 777 for additional leg room.

Economy fits 240 passengers in a 3-3-3 configuration.

Each seat has a pitch of 32 inches and features in-flight entertainment systems with on-demand TV shows and movies; individual headphones outlets; USB ports; and mood lighting.

The airline’s website is already selling off Boeing 787 flights on the route.

Flight TG474 departs from Brisbane at 1.35pm and arrives in Bangkok at 7.45pm. The return flight departs 11.59pm and arrives in Brisbane at 12.05pm.

Air Canada staff

Last month, Air Canada revealed it too would be sending the ‘Dream’ to Brisbane on its first-ever non-stop service between Vancouver and the Australian city.

Commencing 17 June next year, Air Canada will add Brisbane as its second Australian destination, with three times weekly flights to Vancouver on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Subject to regulatory approval, the airline hopes to eventually increase it to daily.
