THAT'S A NEW ONE: Flight forced to turn around after mother forgot her baby

"Turn the flight around, I forgot my baby!" That's not a sentence most pilots would have heard before, but that's what was said on board Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight SV832 from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpur.

“Turn the flight around, I forgot my baby!” That’s not a sentence most pilots would have heard before, but that’s what was said on board Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight SV832 from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpur.

The flustered mother realised shortly into the flight that she had in fact left her baby in the terminal and begged cabin crew and pilots to turn the plane back.

It takes a real emergency for a flight to return to the airport, but a stranded baby was a big enough deal.

In a video uploaded on YouTube, the pilot could be heard relaying information to the airport’s air traffic control.

“May God be with us. Can we come back or what?” the pilot can be heard saying in a recording of the audio transmission that has since gone viral online.

“This flight is requesting to come back… a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing.”

The controllers ask him to re-confirm the situation, to which he responds “We told you, a passenger left her baby in the terminal and refuses to continue the flight.”

“OK, head back to the gate. This is a totally new one for us!” replied the ATC.

I think it’s a new one for all of us!

By all reports the mother and baby were happily reunited at the terminal. PHEW! CLOSE CALL.
