With three new aircraft and inflight services and product offerings awarding the airline the PATA “Gold Award 2014 and ‘Best Unisex First Class Bag’, for Garuda Indonesia the sky is the limit…

It’s an exciting time for Garuda Indonesia who earlier this year joined Sky Team, the global airline alliance with 20 members, and also managed to pick up awards such as PATA (The Pacific Asia Travel Association) ‘Gold Award 2014’ and ‘Best Unisex First Class Bag’.

Last week Uun Setiawan, Garuda Indonesia’s Regional VP together with Lou John D’Alessio, VP of In-Flight Services and the rest to the team introduced the newly launched fresh menus and exciting on-board products and services for Economy, Business and First class.

A Garuda Indoensia First class experience is a similar to experience a 5-star restaurant

The airline was proud to announce that all long-haul flights will have an inflight chef onboard for Business and First class ready to prepare special menus for each passenger’s needs and cravings. Each chef was required to have five or more years experience as a sous chef in five-star hotels, with 125 new chefs brought back from the Middle East, before receiving additional training as cabin crew.

Lucky First class passengers will be able to enjoy a personalised dining concept similar to a fine dining restaurant experience from a 6-star hotel, with 3 cuisines each representing their origin in one menu including Indonesian degustation, Japanese Kaiseki and modern European a la carte.

‘The Garuda Indonesia brand is associated with words such as positive, real, bright, warm and dynamic and when conducting an employer survey the word ‘uplifting’ turned out to be what people associated the brand mostly with. During the 2 year long re-branding process we have tried to implant the word into the entire Garuda experience”

Keith Yates from Yates + Partners who has been working on Garuda’s rebranding over the last couple of years spoke about how the brand wanted to break all the traditional airline rules. Garuda Indonesia wanted the inflight experience to be like any other restaurant experience hence us using real restaurant equipment including large water and wine glasses.
