Holidaymakers with tickets for upcoming Tigerair flights can travel with confidence as pilot industrial action is expected to have minimal (if any) impact on services.
Tigerair Australia’s pilots who are AFAP or VIPA members commenced limited industrial action today, that involves working to rule by refusing to work on a rostered day off, annual leave day, or a day free of duty.
The industrial action will run from today (4 January) to 9 January and will recommence on 11 to 17 January. During this period there will be no stoppage of work.
Tigerair doesn’t anticipate any impact on passengers and has arranged a contingency plan to minimise any disruptions.
In a statement, the carrier told KARRYON that it is negotiating with relevant stakeholders, including the Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP) and VIPA, to secure a new Enterprise Agreement (EA) for pilots.
“Tigerair continues to negotiate in good faith with the AFAP/VIPA and we look forward to reaching a mutually beneficial outcome as soon as possible.”
