Apparently, the Tigerair experience is so different, it requires an entire 3.34 video featuring tips on how to fly with the airline.

Or perhaps its a new way of promoting the budget carrier.

Either way, the video is scoring points because it features some of NRL’s biggest (and cutest) names like Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk.

The video was launched just ahead of Easter to help with the rush period.

It was also released days before Tigerair’s first home sponsored Melbourne Storm match at AAMI Park next week.

Adam Rowe, Tigerair’s Australia Commercial Director, says the video – now uploaded to Youtube or above – is a fun way to educate and help travellers get to their destinations as quickly as possible.

“It’s easy to fly Tigerair – simply know your options and play by the simple rules.”

During the Melbourne Storm vs NZ Warriors game on Monday, the team will run through a banner promoting the video and Tigerair.

The low-cost carrier will also have a strong presence at AAMI Park, as Toby the Tiger mascot makes an appearance. Fans will have the chance to win a flight when they take a photo with the mascot and enter the Instagram competition on the day using the hashtag #TigerairAU.

Tigerair’s blimp will fly over the park with a “fan cam” linked to the big screens, encouraging fans to show their “purple pride” as it flies past.

So what do travellers need to know when flying with the airline?

  • Book early to save
  • Check in luggage can be added to your booking – it can be done up to four hours before the flight
  • The airline now has online check in and food pre-order
  • Bag tags can be printed at the airport kiosks at major airports
  • Check-in closes 45 minutes before departure – no exceptions
  • Carry on bags will be weighed
  • The airline now has queue jump options to skip the queue
  • Travellers can also choose their seat in advance online

Tips may seem basic, but they sound so much better coming from these guys.

Checked out the video (and the guys) above? What did you think?
