NEW UNIFORMS: Delta unveils 'bold', new staff style

Say farewell to the iconic blue and red today, because the start of a new ‘sophisticated’ era begins over at Delta Air Lines tomorrow with the global launch of new staff uniforms.

While other carriers roll out their new uniforms over time, Delta plans to have all 64,000 uniformed staff members wearing a completely different look in less than 24 hours.

Unsurprisingly, the airline has described the brave move as both “daunting and evolutionary”.

Unlike current uniforms, the new-look created by New York fashion designer, Zac Posen, strips away the airline’s iconic blue and red to exude more “sophistication and style” through red, purple and grey.

And it certainly does, just look at how handsome these employees look in an early preview of the new threads…

In a Q&A on the carrier’s website, Director of the New Uniform Program, Ekrem Dimbiloglu, said moving away from the red and blue was “difficult for some after 30 years”, but so far there’s been “a lot of positive feedback” from customers during early wear tests.

“If you look at the last three decades, the company is different. With the technology improvements in the mobile app, the investments made inside airports and gate houses, the enhancements to Delta Sky Clubs and buying new aircraft – we have already transformed Delta. This is another evolution.”

He continued, saying he expects more positive feedback from 29 May when everyone will be invited to join the ‘new uniform global roll out’ by posting photos of Delta people on social media with the hashtag #DeltaReadyForTakeoff.
