One of America’s largest carriers unveils its first-ever airport lounge

For years, JetBlue passengers have travelled through airports without a lounge to call their own. But that’s about to change, marking a shift in how one of America’s biggest airlines sees premium travel.

JetBlue will open its first-ever airport lounge, BlueHouse, at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 5 on 18 December. And the move signals a step up(market) for the airline as it adds a new layer of comfort for frequent flyers, premium customers and loyalty members.

“BlueHouse helps make our flagship terminal feel more like home,” JetBlue President Marty St George said.

“It’s warm, comfortable, and elevated in a way that’s distinctly JetBlue, with the hospitality and thoughtful amenities our customers have been asking for.

“As our first lounge, it represents an exciting milestone in our JetForward journey as we focus on bringing affordable, premium experiences from the aircraft to the airport.”

Located in JetBlue’s home terminal, BlueHouse spans a massive 9,000 square feet (836 sqm – about two-thirds of an Olympic-sized swimming pool) across two levels and, according to the carrier, takes its cues from New York apartment living rather than traditional airline lounges.

It does this by leaning into Art Deco details, local artwork and residential-style spaces that aim to feel relaxed and not restrictive.

“We wanted customers to feel like they’re stepping into a warm and stylish New York City apartment filled with character, where layers of JetBlue history and New York iconography can be discovered with every visit,” JetBlue Senior Vice President, Marketing and Brand, Stephanie Evans Greene said.

“Just as New Yorkers bring their own personality into a new space, we infused the space with JetBlue’s signature style to feel homey and comfortable when staying in our House.”

What to expect

For travellers, the appeal is practical as much as aesthetic.

BlueHouse offers high-speed wi-fi, power at nearly every seat, social zones, a dedicated games room and quiet areas for focused work or downtime. There’s even a photo booth.

When it comes to dining, New York flavours, unsurprisingly, feature heavily. Curated by Union Square Events, the lounge’s menu rotates through NYC-inspired “grab-and-go” options, supported by a beverage program featuring local coffee, cocktails, beer and wine.

Who can enter?

At first, free entry will be limited to JetBlue’s highest-tier Mosaic members, JetBlue Premier Cardmembers and trans-Atlantic Mint customers. However, from February 2026, paid entry options will expand access to other loyalty members and select cardholders.

The launch of BlueHouse is part of JetBlue’s wider JetForward strategy, which it says focuses on premium experiences without losing the airline’s approachable DNA. It also coincides with a broader refresh of Terminal 5, including new retailers and amenities.

As for JetBlue‘s next lounge, that’s set to open at Boston Logan Airport in 2026, with more locations expected as demand grows.
