From tortellini to teriyaki, Virgin Australia is turning tray tables into tasting tables. The airline has unveiled its new winter menu, with fresh options rolling out in both Economy and Business Class, starting today for buy-onboard Economy items, and from 28 May 2025 for Business Class.
Across both cabins, the update focuses on global flavours made with Australian ingredients and reflects the airline’s broader push to improve the onboard customer experience. Recent changes include digital receipts for inflight purchases and a new baggage tracking tool, claimed as an Australian airline-first.
Economy bites back
Here’s what’s on the tray.
Passengers flying Economy on eligible Virgin Australia services can now purchase five new menu items as part of the airline’s rotating seasonal offering.
The winter selection includes:
- Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini by Street Food Co.
- Savoury Beef Snack Pie
- Classic Sausage Roll
- Triple Cheese and Caramelised Onion Sandwich
- Chocamama Party Mix Lolly Bag

For beverages, the new addition is a local twist: Archie Rose Peach Gin and Soda, now available to purchase onboard.
Menu availability is based on route, flight duration and time of day. Complimentary tea and coffee will continue to be available on most flights over 55 minutes, subject to turbulence and aircraft service conditions.

Vegetarian options will be available for every meal service, and a protein selection will be included on every flight.
More than just a meal service
Virgin Australia says the menu refresh is part of its broader investment in inflight service. According to Kyler Chong, Virgin Australia’s General Manager of Product & Customer Strategy, the airline is focused on making onboard dining “thoughtful, satisfying, and distinctly memorable.”
“At Virgin Australia, we believe flying should be as enjoyable as the destination, right down to what’s served onboard,” Chong said.
“Our new winter menu embodies our passion for bringing personality to the skies, featuring fresh, flavour-packed options designed to add value and delight at every bite.”
“From familiar favourites to globally inspired dishes, Virgin Australia is committed to creating an in-flight dining experience that is thoughtful, satisfying, and distinctly memorable—never ordinary.”
KARRYON UNPACKS: For agents booking Virgin Australia, this update offers a talking point around onboard experience, particularly for domestic or short-haul flyers comparing full-service and low-cost options. While Business Class changes don’t kick in until late May, the messaging around “value” and “personality” is likely to continue shaping how Virgin Australia positions its service in a competitive domestic market.
