Ready to upgrade your airport experience to one of luxury and complete relaxation in a Qantas lounge, but aren’t sitting on the right tier in the loyalty club to do so?

Well here’s a bit of good news.

Qantas is trialing a new ‘day pass’ system that gives its lower tier loyalty members the chance to try its domestic and international lounges on their next trip.

Eligible Bronze and Silver Qantas Frequent Flyer members will receive an invitation to purchase a pass if they’re flying during off-peak periods.

The invitation will only be available on select flight bookings and will be sent three to five days prior to travel.

If the passenger accepts, they can use their Qantas Points or use cash to pay for the pass, which will be $49 or 7,000 Qantas Points for entry to the domestic Qantas Club lounges; $69 or 9,900 Qantas Points for the Qantas International Business Class lounges; and $99 or 14,500 Qantas Points for the Premium International Ports lounges (Hong Kong and Singapore).

The pass can be purchased for themselves plus a travelling companion from the time they receive the invitation until check-in closes. They will not be able to purchase the pass through Qantas staff at the entrance to the lounge.

A Qantas spokesperson said invitations will only be distributed for “quiet times” to ensure Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members remain a priority.

“This initiative will offer more of our Qantas Frequent Flyers the chance to enjoy lounge benefits during quieter times throughout the day and evenings.”
