It’s a great chance to experience a European Christmas, see a destination Aussies love and don’t forget those discounted airfares.
If you ask British Airways’ Head of Asia Pacific Sales, Rob Williams, when he thinks the best time for Aussies to hop on a plane and fly to the UK would be, he’d say now.
Speaking to KarryOn during a recent visit to Sydney, the Singapore-based executive described the UK as “good value” for Aussies, particularly because of the many factors currently in Australia’s favour.
According to Williams, the exchange rate is “great”, it’s a chance to see Europe in winter and an ideal time to take advantage of a variety of airfare discounts.
Additionally, he said British Airways guests will receive access to the airline’s ‘London Discounts’, which provide a range of benefits to the airline’s customers including a complimentary Poppy Clutch Bag from Amanda Wakeley for members of the Executive Club when spending £500 or more at the flagship London store; 10 percent off at DAKS Heritage Tailoring and Floris British Perfumers; and a VIP pass offering exclusive discounts at Westfield London Designer Shopping Centre.
“The UK is such good value at the moment. The exchange rate is great value and the UK is a destination Aussies love to go to. It’s all just adding up to that there’s no better time to go than now.”
Rob Williams, British Airways Head of Asia Pacific Sales
Williams continued, saying when it comes to airfares, the carrier’s prices are always competitive from Australia and the number of Australians connecting to the UK via Singapore continues to grow.
“The Kangaroo Roue is hugely popular here,” Williams added.
“People love the UK and British Airways, but they love being able to go through Singapore.”
When it comes to travelling beyond the UK, Williams said more Australians are utilising the airline for leisure travel to popular destinations such as the Greek Islands, France, Italy and Spain.
“Traditionally we fly to business-type destinations such as Frankfurt and Geneva, but during the summer we’ve adjusted our flights slightly to accommodate more travellers taking leisure holidays with a quality airline like British Airways,” he said.
Looking ahead, Williams said over the next year British Airways is focused on rolling out Wi-Fi connectivity, which will be so advanced, guests will be able to connect on multiple devices AND stream Netflix.
The service will be available on both international and domestic services.
