Passengers on a recent domestic flight in the US couldn’t believe their eyes, when police officers boarded their plane and literally dragged a fellow traveller off the aircraft.

A video posted to Youtube captured the disturbing scene, in which the woman, who appears to have gone completely limp, is cautiously being pulled by the wrists down the aircraft aisle by three officers.

The pilot can be heard desperately trying to distract passengers from the commotion with a run down on flight time and San Diego weather, but all his chatter goes completely unheard by travellers twisting in their seats, eager to get a view of the situation.

Some 78,000 people have seen the video since it was uploaded earlier this week, and many have the same question – why was she being treated this way?

A Delta official told Detroit’s WWJ Newsradio 950 that the woman refused to comply with boarding and baggage procedures, which prompted the carrier to seek out law enforcement.

“Delta Air Lines contacted Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s police department requesting assistance with a passenger who would not comply with boarding and baggage check procedures at a McNamara Terminal gate.”

The official continued, saying upon arrival, police advised the woman that she could not remain on the aircraft, however, she refused to leave and “had to be removed”.

No further information was provided, however, witnesses allege that she didn’t check-in properly and was “mouthy” with staff – none of which has been confirmed.

Delta said following her removal from the aircraft, the woman was arrested and charges are pending.
