It’s like a game of pass the ball between Qatar Airways & Singapore Airlines but instead of tossing around a circular object, they’re passing back & forth the title of ‘World’s Best Airline’.
Qatar Airways took back the title of ‘World’s Best Airline’ from Singapore Airlines, again, in the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
It’s the fifth time the Doha-based carrier has held the prestigious title, with the last time being in 2017 before losing it to Singapore Airlines in 2018.
Skytrax’s Edward Plaisted said the airline was re-awarded the title for its high standards in flying as well as the “hard work and dedication from every member of the staff to satisfy customers”.
Of course, Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive was thrilled with the news, as well as wins for ‘World’s Best First Class Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and ‘Best Business Class Seat’.

Qatar Airways also took the title for ‘World’s Best Business Class’.
“Becoming the first airline to be named as ‘Airline of the Year’ for the fifth time is a landmark achievement and, combined with three other major Skytrax awards, it is testament to the tireless efforts of the entire Qatar Airways team.”
Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive
The evening wasn’t a complete loss for Singapore Airlines, which dethroned five-time winner Garuda Indonesia for the title of ‘World’s Best Cabin Crew’. The airline also won ‘Best in First Class’.
