Ni hao to China’s most punctual airline, Xiamen Airlines, the latest airline to tap into the Australian market with direct services to Sydney.
The airline this week kicked off its three-weekly direct flights between Fuzhou-Sydney. The service comes ahead of its twice-weekly Xiamen-Sydney services commencing on 6 December.
Operating the Boeing 787-8 on the route, the aircraft will bring an additional 36,000 Chinese visitors to Sydney each year and contribute $136 million in additional annual visitor expenditure to NSW.
On board, guests will have access to 236 seats in three classes – four in first, 18 in business and 214 in economy.
First class is set up in a 1-2-1 layout, giving aisle access to each passenger and a 15.4″ IFE screen.
Business class has a 2-2-2 configuration and features fully reclinable and a 14″ screen.
Economy class is in a 3-3-3 format and offer seat in a 33″ of pitch. Each seat also has a 9″ touchscreen IFE system and USB ports for charging.
On hand to welcome Xiamen Airlines’ first flight to Sydney this week, Sydney Airport’s Managing Director and CEO Kerrie Mather said the airline’s arrival is great news for trade and tourism.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase concurred, saying the new services will deliver a strong economic impact for the NSW tourism industry.
