Rex has launched its first loyalty program for frequent flyers, tempting travellers with a sign-up bonus, early bird extras, a “unique” 48-hour sale on unsold seats and Australia’s most “flexible” frequent flyer program.
With status points available on domestic and regional networks, passengers can register now for Rex Flyer and earn points immediately.
Members will receive 5,000 Rex points upon sign-up before 2 January 2024 as a sweetener as well as double reward points for bookings made by 2 January 2024, regardless of travel dates.
Rex Flyer will feature three tier status levels – Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond, with tier status benefits available from early 2024.
Rex travellers can accumulate as many as seven points for each dollar they spend when they fly and also earn up to five points for every dollar spent on specific Rex Extras, including additional baggage and seat selection.
Flyers will be able to redeem flights with three flight reward options, Anytime, Getaway and Ultimate, from mid-November.
With last-seat-available redemptions, Rex says the Anytime option provides “the highest flexibility of all frequent flyer programs available in Australia”.
Meanwhile, the Ultimate redemption option will see unsold seats available at the cheapest reward redemption rate from 48 hours before a scheduled departure, as a “unique” feature of the Rex Flyer program.
New lounges coming
New airport lounges planned for Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane will complement the Rex Flyer rollout. The airline says construction on the lounges will commence “imminently”.
“The program with its superior benefits means we can at last reward our passengers for the loyalty they have shown us over many years as we have fought hard – often against almost impossible odds – to provide them with safe, affordable and reliable air services,” Rex Deputy Chairman John Sharp AM said.

In September, Rex announced the launch of daily direct flights between Adelaide and Brisbane on 30 October 2023.
The airline also recently reported a $60 million-plus turnaround for FY23.
