Bonza announces new leadership team, ready for take-off

Australia’s new independent low-cost airline, Bonza, has announced its leadership team, ready for when it takes to the skies early next year.

Australia’s new independent low-cost airline, Bonza, has announced its leadership team, ready for when it takes to the skies early next year.

With Australians eagerly awaiting the launch of Australia’s new, and only independent, low-cost airline Bonza, CEO Tim Jordan today announced the leadership team to take the airline forward.

Let’s see who’s on the team, shall we?

Bonza
Peter McNally, COO

Peter McNally will be joining the airline as Chief Operating Officer.

Most recently at Ground Services provider Swissport, Peter has extensive Aviation experience across start up (Virgin Blue) and established Operations in Australia, Asia and UAE.

Notably, Peter has previously held regulatory post holder roles in Australia, bringing with him extensive safety and operational leadership experience, a stellar understanding of the regulatory environment in Australia and a healthy
respect for the importance of customer experience through reliable operations.

He will lead all aspects of safety and operations delivery as regulatory post holder for Bonza, in collaboration with the Australian regulator CASA.

His remit includes flight and cabin crew, engineering and ground services and operations delivery including on-time performance.

Bonza
Carly Povey, CCO

Carly Povey joins as Chief Commercial Officer on 1 November, bringing with her extensive global low-cost carrier
(LCC) experience across Australia and Europe.

She has held senior roles in LCC brands, including easyJet and Jetstar, and is well versed in Australian companies that exist to connect Australia, most recently during her time as General Manager at Australia Post.

Carly’s experience as a member of the start-up team at UK low-cost carrier Jet2.com is especially relevant.

During her time there she was pivotal in their successful bid to launch from UK regions, creating a low-cost alternative that stimulated demand, whilst delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Carly started her career, rather fittingly, at a UK regional airport and has seen firsthand the positive difference LCC’s can make to local communities.

She will be an ambassador for all things customer, responsible for Bonza’s brand, marketing, communications, and customer channels, commercial partnerships (e.g., airports and government relations), network and scheduling, product, and pricing.

Bonza
Lidia Valenzuela, CFO

Lidia Valenzuela recently joined as Chief Financial Officer.

Most recently at ASX 300 listed company Superloop, Lidia has more than 15 years experience in finance leadership roles across a wide range of highly competitive and regulated industries including Telco, Financial Services, Childcare and Technology.

A member of CPA Australia (CPA), with a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting and Business Information Systems, Lidia has an attraction to changing the status quo, while enabling an environment of continuous improvement that allows organisations to deliver positive financial outcomes.

Lidia will be responsible for all financial functions including accounting, forecasting, tax, audit and the airline’s project management office.

Lidia will also lead the financial framework to work in partnership with the leadership team to deliver against cost control and growth targets.

Bonza
Tim Jordan, CEO

“The winning recipe to any success story is people. It’s absolutely critical we have the right leadership team, who are wholeheartedly committed to making a real difference to travellers and communities in Australia,” said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.

“Peter, Carly and Lidia are up for the challenge to do things differently, whilst also creating an environment our people and partners can feel proud to call home. I’m delighted to have them onboard.”
