Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Colosseum, Venice canals, Trevi Fountain, and… Legoland? Italy’s ancient tourism appeal is getting a wild modern-day mix up as ground breaks on the country’s, nay, Europe’s first Legoland Water Park.

The first brick was laid for LEGOLAND at Gardaland Resort this week, putting the 15,000-square-metre park on track for its June 2020 opening goals.

Aimed at families (obvs) with children aged two-to-twelve, the Water Park will sit on the bank of Lake Garda in northern Italy where it will deliver “bring joy” and interactive adventure.

I GET EXPANDING INTO, BUT WHY ITALY?

It doesn’t seem right, does it?

But, the Legoland Water Park will be located in Gardaland Resort, which is kind of like a slice of America in Italy (seriously, even the logo kind of looks like it belongs to Disney – but, just to be clear, it doesn’t!).

Gardaland Resort has an existing theme park, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, and it has two themed hotels attached. It also hosts Halloween events, Oktoberfest celebrations, and more.

Legoland will slide right in at Gardaland Resort’s family-fun adventure.

WHY THE SUDDEN EXPANSION AT GARDALAND RESORT?

The decision to open a Legoland extension compliments the recent opening of Gardaland’s third hotel – Magic Hotel.

More beds mean more guests, and more guests require more entertainment. In comes, Legoland.

WHAT WILL THE LEGOLAND HAVE?

Well, it’s a Water Park so, water-based activities.

The site will have various slides, pools, rafts and it’ll have an entire water play complex featuring LEGO brands. It’ll also feature Italy’s very own Miniland which is essentially a mini Lego replica of the country.

Other highlights will be Lega building experiences, interactive games and more.
